About Us
Singing In Community
MusiCollage was born out of the vision for an inclusive musical experience - a moment in time where anyone (musician or complete newbie) could feel empowered to sing within the web of a supportive creative community. We offer improv singing workshops, interactive concerts, and immersive experiences at the cross section of music and creative expression.
Our Story
Musicollage started when our dear friend Valeria asked us to organize a jam session at her Brooklyn cafe in the midst of winter. Eager to try something new, we lit some candles and squeezed a few friends into a tiny room in Bushwick for a night of improvisational singing. Inspired by the embodied ethos of Ecstatic Dance and a deep curiosity to expand our voice as an instrument, we committed to hosting these non-traditional jams and creating spaces where anyone could explore their musicality with their most innate instrument - the voice.
Over the past 5 years of organizing over 150 inclusive music experiences, we've sang in backyards, basements, rooftops, and parks while growing our singing circles at festivals around the world. We've also had the blessing of learning from Bobby McFerrin and his community of masterful improvisational singers, which has deeply influenced our practice and helped us weave Circle Singing into our experiences.
Our love for singing in community has only grown, and we can't wait to create music you.
